STOCK JOURNAL | Grain growers demonstrate excellent herbicide compliance in NRS results

Results of this year's National Residue Survey (NRS) show high-level compliance with pesticide residue limits.

The 99.1 per cent compliance rate is being celebrated by grains industry groups as a show of commitment to safety and market access requirements.

The Stock Journal reported that the program set up by the Department of Agriculture to monitor compliance was a critical component of export market access.

Grain Producers Australia celebrated the strong results, saying it demonstrated the strong stewardship from within the industry.

GPA research and development spokesperson Andrew Weidemann said NRS survey results provided evidence of the grains industry's strong performance record.

"The survey plays an important role supporting the Australian grains industry's reputation for producing high quality crops - and our capacity to facilitate trade, securely and sustainably, to meet strong demand and various trade requirements of many different and important markets," he said.
