Farmers are sitting on delivered grain without on-selling for averages or six months or more.
Stock & Land reported there was around 11 million tonnes of grain in the system with Australia's three major bulk handling businesses.
Grain Producers Australia northern region director and Moree grower Matthew Madden said many growers were not in a rush to sell as they continued to harvest a bumper season.
"The canola price has not been too bad, so people have been reasonably happy to sell that, but it is not really a massive crop in this area," he said.
"Otherwise, they are taking their time to try and make the best decision as to what to sell, the prices are not particularly exciting and the general feel is that in the cereals there is not a lot of downside risk so they are assessing their options," Mr Madden said.
"We've come off a good season in 2024 so the cash flow requirements are not as high as if we'd just come off a drought so people are looking to try and get best value for their grain even if they have to hold it for longer."
