NOVEMBER GRAIN GRABS

ree

Grain Producers Australia (GPA) took part in the recent Plant Health Australia (PHA) member meetings in Canberra, representing the interests of grain producers and the broader grains industry.

These meetings bring together government and industry to review work programs, look at emerging challenges, and set the direction for the national plant biosecurity system.

They provide an opportunity for open discussion, updates on key projects and a shared focus on strengthening preparedness across all plant industries.

This year’s gathering also marked two significant milestones. Plant Health Australia is celebrating 25 years of partnership, coordination and progress HERE.

Over that time it has grown into a central pillar of Australia’s plant biosecurity system, supporting collaborative planning, national consistency and strong engagement across industries.

The Plant Industry Forum also reached its 20-year anniversary, reflecting two decades of commitment from plant industries to work together, share knowledge and provide leadership on issues that matter to producers.

For the grains sector, being a member of PHA, a signatory to the Emergency Plant Pest Response Deed and a part of these meetings is important.

It keeps growers' interests connected to national planning, ensures our perspectives are included in discussions that influence plant health and trade, and reinforces the commitment we share with other industries to maintaining a strong and effective biosecurity system.

These conversations shape the work that protects our crops, our markets and the communities that rely on a healthy and productive grains sector.

GPA will continue to participate in these forums, support collaboration and represent the interests of grain producers.

The strength of Australia’s biosecurity system relies on partnership, and we are committed to playing our part.
