New crop genetics and government investment to grow a Low Carbon Liquid Fuels Industry using canola crops has growers keen for the future.
New England Times reported on the $250 million pledge from the Federal Government to progress this work alongside industry support.
Canola crops from the northern New South Wales 'Golden Triangle' and Liverpool Plans are among the highest yielding cropping hectares in Australia.

Grain Producers Australia Northern Region Director Matthew Madden farms at Moree and said new crop genetics to enable more viable canola crops to be grown in the region, alongside cereals was key to the success of the biofuel industry plan.
“I’m looking forward to a future where we have a home-grown industry for SAF and other biofuels,” Mr Madden said.
“It creates a new market opportunity for our crops, and if Australian companies like Qantas are seeking to use SAF to reduce carbon emissions we should be the one’s supplying the feedstock to produce it.”
