International uncertainty in the Middle East has prompted urea prices to increase by $70 per tonne in the past two weeks and experts warn this trend may continue.
Farm Weekly reported that growers are however, skeptical of being advised to secure product in light of the potential volatility.

Grain Producers Australia Southern Region Director and Victorian grain grower Andrew Weidemann said there were many factors why growers may not jump at calls for fertiliser orders in response to global occurrences.
"At present, in my region we're around 100mm (of rain) for the year behind where we should be and that will have an impact on top-dressing programs," he said.
"We already have supplies in the country and while there will probably be a fair bit go out in the areas when the season is favourable I would think we're not going to need to bring in as much as people think, especially if price increases make it a riskier proposition."
