The emergency approval of 50 g/kg zinc phosphide mouse bait has been featured by EuropeSays, with the publication outlining the need for more effective mouse control as growers contend with widespread infestations across Australia's grain-growing regions.

The article also outlines the role Grain Producers Australia (GPA) played in securing the emergency permit and the safeguards attached to the use of the higher-strength bait.

"Mouse plagues can obviously cause massive crop and financial losses in the absence of adequate management tools, as well as significant psychological stress for farmers, their families and those living in affected areas," GPA Research, Development and Extension Spokesperson Andrew Weidemann said.
