COUNTRYMAN | Growers anticipate imminent approval for emergency ZP-50 permit to combat destructive mouse plague

Confidence was growing that grain producers would soon gain access to stronger mouse bait, with Countryman reporting on the industry's push for an emergency ZP50 permit as significant crop losses mounted across affected regions.

"The current 25g/kg bait simply isn't delivering the level of control growers need under plague conditions," Grain Producers Australia Research, Development and Extension Spokesperson Andrew Weidemann told Countryman.

He said the proposed ZP50 permit would provide growers with a more effective option by ensuring mice receive a lethal dose after consuming fewer bait grains when background feed is abundant.
