The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has mirrored concerns from industry that a proposed $475million takeover of Delta Ag by Elders could cause competition issues.


The Weekly Times reported on the ACCC announcement of preliminary concerns for local markets across Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.

Grain Producers Australia Research Development and Extension Spokesperson Andrew Weidemann said it was welcome news to hear the ACCC was taking notice of grower concerns.


“There were 33 sites we identified that would have essentially no competition if the sale went through,” he said.


“When you’ve got at least a couple of resellers in the area, you know there’s supply, but with less players in the industry there’s less products in the industry.”
