Yorke Peninsula farmer and Grain Producers Australia southern director Mark Schilling will take the reins as inaugural chair of the newly-formed Sustainability Taskforce.
Formed out the GPA Policy Council, the taskforce was established to provide opportunities for increased engagement on sustainability among GPA members as well as identify chances to help educate growers and improve profitability and sustainability.
Membership to the committee will be made up of grower leaders and state farming grains committee representatives and will operate on a similar model to the GPA Biosecurity Committee and GPA Pesticides and Technology sub-committee.
Mr Schilling said sustainability was a passion of his and "central to everything we do as growers".
