GRAIN CENTRAL | Federal Budget light on good news for ag sectors

The 2024-25 Federal Budget has put a focus on climate change and renewable energy initiatives funding that aim to reduce emissions in the agricultural sector and improve the carbon credit scheme.

Grain Central highlighted that industry groups were disappointed that there was no new infrastructure or drought funding included in the mix.

They also reported that the ag-related Budget headlines centred on funding earmarked to phase out sheep live export.

Grain Producers Australia Chief Executive Officer Colin Bettles told Grain Central the focus on sustainability for agriculture was a positive.

He said the industry is optimistic about the possible benefits new funding for low carbon liquid fuels could bring grain growers.
