FARM WEEKLY | Grain industry wants a share of conference funding after beef announcement

An event showcasing the grains industry as a whole is a concept being lobbied for by Australia's grains representative group.

Farm Weekly highlighted that a renewed push for the idea has occurred following an announcement in May the Federal Government would put $1 million into a Beef Week event in New South Wales, on top of existing support for beef industry events.

GPA chief executive Colin Bettles said his organisation was pursuing the establishment of a national event to showcase the $32 billion grains sector.

"The idea would be to hold a roving conference held in different venues across the five major grain producing states," Mr Bettles said.
