The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is seeking submissions from industry about concerns a proposed $475m Elders takeover bid of Delta will lead to higher prices and reduced competition.

While the proposal details that Delta will stay operating under separate branding and independently managed businesses, the ACCC said more investigation was needed.
Farm Weekly reported that farm advocacy group Grain Producers Australia raised key concerns about reduced competition that would affect multiple commodities.
In its submission earlier this year, GPA had asked the ACCC to consider 30 different locations where Elders and Delta currently had directly competing retail premises.
"The views of our members, highlighting serious concerns about reduced competition, have also extended to other commodities, not just grains," said chief executive, Colin Bettles.
