Grain Producers Australia Chief Executive Colin Bettles and Southern Region Director and Victorian grain producer Andrew Weidemann speak to AgWatchers podcast hosts Andrew Whitelaw and Matt Dagleish.
They discuss the upcoming Federal Election and the policy priorities for GPA as detailed in the 2025 Policy Priorities document. The group also talks about the work Grain Producers Australia has been doing to support grain producers as autonomous farm machinery becomes more and more a reality in Australia.
Mr Weidemann said this piece of work was offering growers opportunities to access tools that could change the way they do business.
"There is a whole range of technology that is being used overseas and is coming here, or is in development and likely not that far away," he said.
"We've been working with the Society of Precision Agriculture Australia and the Tractor and Machinery Association of Australia for probably six, seven years now in the background around a code process so that we could have a voluntary code for the adoption of these products going forward."
