The mandatory levies paid by grain producers are the topic of a survey currently being conducted, asking growers to have their say on levy components.
Grain Producers Australia is running the survey as a part of its role representing grain producers to the federal government.
GPA Chief Executive Colin Bettles spoke to 3CS Country Today and explained that several years of record production has meant record levels of levy collection, leaving significant questions around the best options for allocating these funds.
"In the past five years, we've produced $140 billion in national grain crops and now we've got another one of $26 .5 billion on the way this year," he said.

"That means we've got record high levy collections, so it only seems natural that we revisit what these levies look like and where these funds are going.
"What we're asking is for growers to have a say and read all of the different materials that we provided on the GPA website and the actual proposal which we want growers to vote on.
"I encourage everyone to get on there and have their say and let other growers know that they can do the same over the next three to four weeks."
