Grain Producers Australia (GPA) welcomes the announcement of Victoria Anderson as the new Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).
GPA Chair Barry Large said Ms Anderson was well-placed to take on the role considering her extensive background in Australian Public Service, having started as a graduate in agriculture, up to her most recent role as Deputy Secretary of the Small Business, Corporate and Law Group at the Department of the Treasury.
“We are grateful that she has relevant hands-on policy knowledge that includes drought policy, agricultural market access, biosecurity policy and corporate governance,” he said.
This appointment follows the departure of the outgoing Secretary, of Adam Fennessy PSM.
“Adam has been really positive to work with and was invested in productive outcomes for grain growers, and we greatly valued his contribution to the sector.”
Mr Large said GPA wished Mr Fennessy luck with his future endeavours and thanked him for his efforts and willingness to collaborate.
GPA is a statutory representative organisation (RO) works closely with DAFF to progress grower objectives, activities and challenges from the GPA state farming organisation members through its Policy Council.
