FARM WEEKLY | APVMA paraquat decision looms as growers push for science-based findings

The APVMA's long-running review of paraquat is nearing its conclusion.

Farm Weekly examined the debate ahead of the regulator's final decision, including Grain Producers Australia's view that the outcome should be based on Australian science, Australian farming systems and the safe use of the herbicide.

Grain Producers Australia Research, Development and Extension Spokesperson Andrew Weidemann said grower safety remained the priority.

"We obviously have farmer safety first and foremost in mind, we are the ones out here applying the chemical, the last thing we want to do is to jeopardise our community," he said.
