The ongoing mouse plague has placed additional pressure on grain growers already grappling with rising input costs, while also affecting regional homes and businesses.
In its coverage of the outbreak, the Daily Mail explored the growing impact on farming communities and the approval of Grain Producers Australia's (GPA) emergency permit for 50 g/kg zinc phosphide mouse bait.
GPA Western Region Director Duncan Young said the outbreak had become another cost for growers during an already difficult season.
"This outbreak is another cost on top of that, and potentially in a year where budgets were already pretty tight before the war began."
