Approval of GPA’s emergency permit for ZP-50 mouse bait prompted an ABC SA Country Hour interview with RD&E spokesperson Andrew Weidemann, who explained the access requirements for growers.

“We now have approval as of about half an hour ago for the use of the double strength zinc phosphide mouse bait,” Mr Weidemann said.

He outlined the training and reporting requirements, with access restricted to eligible agroecological zones recording moderate or higher mouse activity.

The discussion also covered the work by GPA, GRDC, CSIRO, the APVMA and state bodies to secure approval, and manufacturers’ preparations to produce bait for affected growers.
