A SHARED EFFORT TO PROTECT AUSTRALIAN GRAIN

The recent khapra beetle response was a strong reminder of how effective Australia’s biosecurity system is when government, industry and the community work together.

Grain Producers Australia and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry are sharing the above message to thank everyone involved for their professionalism, cooperation and commitment during the response.

From frontline biosecurity officers to those who shared information through their networks, each contribution played a part in protecting the grains industry from one of its most serious threats.

As highlighted in the accompanying message from the Australian Chief Plant Protection Officer Dr Gabrielle Vivian-Smith and GPA Chair Barry Large, vigilance and early reporting remain critical.

Biosecurity is a shared responsibility, and continued awareness is essential to keeping Australia free from high-risk pests such as khapra beetle
