Leadership Grant
Grain Producers Australia delivered a two-day Leadership Forum for growers across Australia.
The industry’s emerging leaders, both grain growers and policy staff, nominated by GPA’s Policy Council, were the target of the event.
The Forum included leadership and advocacy training covering communicating with influence; media skills; understanding the parliamentary process; and, principles of effective communication in the digital age.
Participants heard from a who’s who of the grains industry, including representatives from Plant Health Australia; Grains Industry Market Access Forum; Grains Research and Development Corporation; the National Farmers’ Federation; and, Grain Producers SA. Lively and interactive discussions focused on:

-
Strategic issues confronting the sector
-
Current and potential channels to progress the interests of grain growers
-
Research and development priorities including biosecurity.

Participants found the event extremely valuable from the perspective of meeting and sharing ideas with peers from across the country, gaining access to industry leaders, and engaging in discussions about the future of their industry.
GPA was fortunate to receive funding from the Federal Government‘s Leadership in Agriculture Industries Fund for this event. GPA acknowledges the support of the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources in administering this fund.
