Keeping travelling workers safe is important to the agricultural sector. For this reason, Western Australian farm training and recruitment agency 2 Workin Oz recently chose to partner with GPA Training to deliver vital safety and fire-preparedness training to 26 harvest trainees.

“Pairing the GPA induction with our hands on practical training, provides confidence that we are improving safety outcomes across the industry for employees and employers. Our employer network is aware of the program we are using, and we encourage them to look at using it more widely in their own businesses,” said Ms Ley Webster, Owner of 2 Workin Oz.

GPA Training focuses on creating a safe and efficient workforce specifically for the grains industry. The online training platform offers different training courses specifically developed by growers and experienced industry professional to meet the needs of farmers and their businesses. For a small annual fee, businesses can access a variety of industry-specific training courses all-year round.

“Trainees having access to the GPA Training platform for 12 months is also of great benefit to us as a training and recruitment organisation and to them as they navigate future work opportunities in agriculture. We will continue to encourage them to revisit the training as seasons change and keep up with new units of training that are added over the next 12 months,” Ms Webster said.

“One trainee recently reported that he attended his first header and paddock fire this week, and felt he had a good understanding of what to do from the GPA online training and 2 Workin Oz practical sessions. The knowledge learnt allowed him to stay calm and follow the directions of his employer with confidence,” she said.
