Gerard is an inter-generational family farmer, currently managing a 4,400ha property that’s producing wheat, barley, canola, sheep and cattle in partnership at Broomehill, Western Australia. Gerard’s passion for agriculture saw him complete a Bachelor of Science (Population Resources and Technology) at Murdoch University in Perth, before returning home to work in the family business.
He is an active member and leader of his local community contributing to numerous sporting and social groups. He also has extensive experience working in agricultural advocacy for a number of organisations including; as Director and Finance Committee Chair of the Council of Grain Growers Organisations (a founding member of GPA); a Member of the Western Australian Soft Wheat Growers Committee; a Wheat Quality Australia Council Member; and a Member of the CBH Growers Advisory Council. Gerard also completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors course in 2020.
Gerard’s commitment to industry representation, combined with financial literacy and management skills, makes him a strong policy advocate for growers on matters such as plant breeding and grain quality. He is firmly committed to strong and robust debate, resulting in united positive outcomes to improve grower profitability and sustainability along with the broader grains industry and rural communities.
